Infrared survey or inspection refers to the procedure of determining the approximate temperature measurements of electrical equipment (also mechanical or steam) while they are in service and energized. A highly sensitive and accurate monitoring device is utilized to sense these temperatures.

Powertronic can provide an infrared thermographic survey of the electrical equipment in your facility. The benefit of this type of service is the relative low cost and the ability to complete the survey while the equipment is in service. This service is an integral component in a comprehensive predictive maintenance plan. Utilized in conjunction with scheduled maintenance the beginnings of a maintenance program are seen.

An Infrared Inspection is completed by removing accessible covers and doors of electrical equipment and scanning the interior of the equipment. High temperatures are revealed from loose mechanical connections, poor electrical contact of current carrying components and broken parts within the electrical apparatus.

Our Infrared Technician does not remove covers or components, their expertise in the area of Infrared, other technical, trained personnel are required to complete the survey.

Powertronic can offer three types of infrared Inspection Services to you:

• A single infrared technician is dispatch to your site. Your facility personnel provide the labor to remove and replace all covers, panels, enclosures, doors, etc.

• Two personnel, an infrared inspection and a field technician, are dispatched to your facility to complete the survey. The technician has available, meters and power analyzers to record the electrical status of any findings. Additionally, the experience of the field technician can alert you and your personnel to potential safety, maintenance and operational problems. Your facility personnel provide the labor to remove and replace all covers, panels, enclosures, doors, etc.

• Powertronic provides all manpower necessary to complete the infrared inspection including Infrared Technician, field technician and electricians in whatever combination is suitable for your particular facility. We will remove and replace all covers, panels, enclosures, doors, etc. This is essentially a "hands off" approach for your facility in completing this service. We do ask that someone accompany us during the infrared to provide access to all locations.

After the infrared inspection is completed a complete report is forwarded to you, usually within one week, with all findings. Each finding will have a visual and thermal image to help identify the possible problem.
